If you want to join the global craze to lose weight and stay fit, the gym is often the first place that comes to mind. Thinking about the gym could have you instinctively gritting of your teeth, especially considering the expenses that come with gym membership.
When you begin the process of losing weight, you can stay on your weight loss path without ever having to step foot in a gym. I can safely say this as I am on my current weight loss journey, I am comfortable and happy with my progress, and I have lost weight at little to no cost! Here’s how.
Buying a skipping rope is a one-time, low-cost investment. It will enable you to exercise within the confines of your home, and it is among the fastest ways to lose weight as it involves the whole body. You will break a sweat while burning an intense amount of calories over a relatively short period.
Hit the Stairs
Alternatively, if you live an apartment, you are in luck as the stairs could be your next best friend. Climbing up and down stairs is completely free. The stairs are available to you at no cost at all. Running up and down the stairs is also an excellent workout, as it engages almost all your muscles.
I have a few workout DVDs that didn’t cost me much, mainly because I buy all my DVDs when the supermarkets have them on sale. I use them in the house especially when I feel like taking a break from jumping rope or other exercises. This is also one of the best ways to lose a few pounds as the DVDs are more involving, and you get to work out along your favorite fitness guru.
A workout DVD is also incredibly flexible as you can use it whenever you have a break in your schedule, and even if you are pressed for time. With workout DVDs, you spend money one time when buying, but they will serve you for a long period.
What I do for my arms, as weird as it sounds is use bottles of different sizes and fill them up with water. You can gradually increase the weight of your bottles as you grow accustomed to the weight, for example, increasing a 2ltr bottle to a 3ltr bottle and so on.
Depending on your endurance and resistance level, you can choose to fill the bottle with sand and put a little bit of water, such that it becomes a bit heavier. With this free sand (think public beach) and water solution, you can continue your fitness journey with your own home-made weights.
The tips above are ideal for people who have a tight work schedule and a strong desire to save their hard earned cash. After the initial investment, these exercises remain perpetually cost-free, giving you the opportunity to save, while showing off the great results of your weight loss journey.
